Berd (Minneapolis, USA) makes 2.3 g UHMWPE polyethylene spokes, among the lightest in the world, with three times the vibration damping of steel.

Berd was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota, by three University of Minnesota engineering students with one idea: replace steel spokes with a polymer fibre. After about four years of development, the PolyLight ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) spokes changed high-end wheel building.
